Thanks
My vision came true thanks to Mike and Cabinet Refresh of Mid-Michigan. In mid-2016, I purchased a house with a dated kitchen. My goals were to: have a warm, inviting, functional kitchen with a ‘coastal’ look. Because the dining room table and chairs (antique maple canned by my dad) are also in the room, it is important to me that both ‘looks’ complement each other. I wanted: a dishwasher; good task lighting; efficient use of space (it’s very small); and a value that matched the rest of the house and neighborhood.
Now I have an 18″ dishwasher that is just right for a small house; great under-counter task lighting that can be dimmed, and a great overall coastal look. I will say that the cabinets have some limitations in terms of efficiency, especially in two areas: 1) the stacking drawers: I would have preferred a stack of 4 drawers, rather than 3. To work around that I had the builders install a rail on both sides of the second drawer so I could stack multiple plastic storage boxes in the second drawer for kitchen utensils — knives, veggie peeler, measuring cups and spoons, pastry blender, graters, rolling pin, and scoops. 2). There really is no functional way to make the lazy Susan more efficient as the round shelving doesn’t come to the edge of the cabinet walls. That may have been a space limitation, but not what I’m used to.
Mike painted the cabinets the color of my choice so I have the color that I wanted. It’s beautiful. His ‘team’ installed lots of great lighting including the pendant above my dining room table. To control the cost, I decided to use a laminate countertop.
I’m very pleased with the end result. Mike was great to work with!
